See your VAT, corporate tax, licence and other deadlines on one calendar, add your own dates, and mark each one complete when the work is done.

For Verasol 2.12·7 min read

The compliance calendar keeps the dates your company must not miss in one place: VAT returns, the corporate tax return, licence renewals and any date you add yourself. Verasol fills in the standard UAE deadlines for you every night, and you add the rest. The calendar is a list of reminders: marking a deadline complete records that the work is done, but it does not file a return, pay anything or change your books.

Open the calendar#

The calendar opens from your dashboard. On the Dashboard, find the Compliance Calendar card and click View Calendar.

The Compliance Calendar card on the dashboard, with View Calendar

The card already lists up to five calendar deadlines of the next 90 days, together with other reminders such as your next unfiled VAT return and your overdue invoices.

To see the calendar, you need the permission Tax: VAT and corporate tax (view). To add, complete or delete deadlines, you need Tax: prepare and file returns, record tax payments. See Team and permissions.

Read the calendar#

The Compliance Calendar: the month on the left, the deadlines still to do on the right
  • 1 The month. Each day shows up to three deadlines, with a coloured dot for the priority. Use the arrows to go a month back or forward. Click a day to open its deadline; when a day has several, open them from the list on the right.
  • 2 Upcoming Deadlines lists every open deadline of the next 12 months, soonest first, with its date, its category and the days left (Today, Tomorrow, or the number of days). When a date has passed and the deadline is not complete, it moves to a red Overdue box above this list, with the number of days it is late.
  • 3 The colour key: Critical, High, Medium and Low. Overdue deadlines are always shown in red.
  • 4 Add Deadline adds a date of your own.

Only open deadlines appear. When you mark a deadline complete, it leaves the calendar.

Where the deadlines come from#

Every night, Verasol adds the standard UAE deadlines that apply to your company:

DeadlineWhen Verasol adds it
VAT returnFor a company with a UAE TRN, one deadline for each VAT period whose return is due in the next 12 months and is not filed yet. Each one is due on the 28th day of the month after the period.
Corporate tax returnFor a UAE company, the return of each tax period (your financial year, from Settings › Financial year & currency) that is not filed yet and is due in the next 12 months. Each one is due nine months after the end of the tax period. A return not filed by its due date stays on the calendar, in the Overdue box, until you file it in Verasol or mark the deadline complete. A year that ended before your books in Verasol start gets no deadline once its due date has passed.
Trade licence, Chamber of Commerce and establishment card renewalsWhen the Trade License Expiry Date in your settings is in the next 12 months: the licence renewal 30 days before that date, the Chamber of Commerce and establishment card renewals 45 days before it (on the expiry date itself when that day has already passed). Their priority follows the days left to the expiry, and is updated every night: Critical within 30 days, High within 60, Medium within 90, Low before that.
WPS salary uploadEach month, from the 25th, the upload of salaries through the Wage Protection System, due on the last day of the month.
UBO register reviewThe yearly review of your Ultimate Beneficial Owner information, on 31 January.
VAT registration anniversaryWhen your VAT Registration Date is set: a yearly reminder to check that your records are complete, in case of an FTA audit.
Deadlines announced by the authoritiesDates announced by the UAE authorities, such as the Federal Tax Authority or the Ministry of Finance, added only when they apply to your company: private business or government entity, and the revenue band chosen on the E-invoicing screen (otherwise the income of your last full financial year). When Verasol cannot tell which date applies, it adds one deadline titled "(check which date applies)" on the earliest date, listing each date. The e-invoicing dates are an example.

The VAT periods come from VAT return period in Settings › Tax & licence. When that is empty, Verasol takes them from your VAT returns in Verasol. If it cannot tell your periods, it adds no VAT return deadlines until you set them. When you file the VAT return for a period in Verasol, its deadline is marked complete during the night. If you change your VAT return period, the deadlines of the old periods are withdrawn.

The same goes for the corporate tax return: when you file it in Verasol, its deadline is marked complete during the night, and if you change your financial year, the deadlines made for the old one are withdrawn.

Verasol never adds a second deadline for one you already have: when you have added a deadline yourself, such as your own VAT return or licence renewal, your row is kept and Verasol's own copy is withdrawn (it comes back if you delete yours). The 30-day licence renewal reminder is not added when you have your own renewal deadline.

Anything else, you add yourself: an audit, a report your bank asks for, an excise return, a renewal with another authority.

Add Compliance Deadline, with Recurring deadline ticked

1 Title, 2 Due Date, 3 Category, 4 Recurring deadline with its Recurrence Pattern, 5 Add Deadline.

Complete or delete a deadline#

Click a deadline in the month, in Upcoming Deadlines or in the Overdue box. A window opens with its priority, its category and its Due Date.

A deadline: Mark Complete when the work is done, Delete to remove it
  • 1 Mark Complete when the work is done. The deadline leaves the calendar. If it is a recurring deadline that you added, Verasol adds the next one straight away: a month, three months or a year later, with the same title, category, priority and description (unless that one is already there). For a deadline that Verasol added, it adds the next one itself during the night, for the next period; for a licence renewal, once you have entered the new Trade License Expiry Date.
  • 2 Delete removes the deadline for good, after you confirm.

Reminders#

Verasol does not send a separate reminder for each deadline. Your dashboard's Compliance Calendar card shows the next ones every time you open it, and the weekly tax news e-mail, when Verasol sends you one, also lists your next deadlines.

For accountancy firms#

When an accountancy firm keeps your books in Verasol, the open deadlines of your calendar also appear on the Deadlines tab of the firm's portal, marked Compliance calendar, next to each client's VAT, corporate tax, payroll and trade licence dates. Only the firm's staff who may see VAT in your company see them, and a click opens this calendar in your company. See The firm portal.
