Stock movements, adjustments and transfers
See every change in your stock, correct the stock after a count, write off damaged goods, move goods between warehouses and reverse an adjustment or transfer entered by mistake.
Every change in your stock is a stock movement: goods received on a bill, goods sold on an invoice, a count correction, a transfer between warehouses. Each movement carries its cost in AED, so the stock movements are also the record of what your stock is worth. Most movements come from your documents by themselves. On this screen you add the two that have no document of their own: stock adjustments and transfers.
See your stock movements#
Open Inventory › Stock Movements. The newest movements come first. Filter the list by Item, Warehouse, Movement and date (From, To); the button with the cross clears the filters.
- 1 Stock adjustment corrects the stock of an item in a warehouse. See Adjust the stock.
- 2 Stock transfer moves goods between warehouses. See Move goods to another warehouse.
- 3 Movement shows one kind of movement only, for example only adjustments.
- 4 Reverse undoes an adjustment or a transfer entered by mistake. See Reverse an adjustment or a transfer.
Each row shows the item, the warehouse, the quantity (+ in, - out), the Unit cost and the Total cost. The reference of an invoice or a bill opens that document; a click anywhere else on the row opens the item.
| Movement | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Purchase | Goods received on a bill or a goods receipt |
| Sale | Goods sold on an invoice or delivered on a delivery note |
| Customer Return | Goods a customer returns on a credit note |
| Vendor Return | Goods you send back to a supplier on a debit note |
| Transfer out, Transfer in | A stock transfer: one row for each warehouse |
| Adjustment | A stock adjustment |
| Opening stock | The item's opening stock |
Some rows carry an extra label:
- Cost correction: Verasol re-costed an earlier movement, for example because a bill it drew on was cancelled or a document was entered with an earlier date. It has no quantity, only the change in value.
- Reversal: the movement undoes an earlier one, of a cancelled or changed document, an adjustment or a transfer. The movement it undoes shows Reversed.
Adjust the stock#
Use an adjustment after a stock count, or for goods that are damaged, lost, stolen, expired or found.
- Click Stock adjustment.
- Choose the Item and the Warehouse. Under Quantity, Verasol shows the current stock of the item in that warehouse.
- Choose the Kind of adjustment: Add stock (+) or Reduce stock (-), and enter the Quantity to add or take off.
- Check the Date: the count or write-off date. The adjustment is booked on this date.
- When you add stock, you can enter the Unit cost (AED) of the goods found. Leave it empty to use the item's current cost.
- Choose the Reason: Stock count correction, Damaged, Loss or theft, Surplus found, Expired or Other. Add Notes if useful.
- Click Book adjustment.
1 Kind of adjustment, 2 Quantity, 3 Unit cost (AED), 4 Reason, 5 Book adjustment.
The adjustment is booked at once: it does not wait for an approval. Verasol refuses an adjustment that does not add up:
- Surplus found must add stock; Damaged, Loss or theft and Expired must reduce it.
- You cannot take off more than the warehouse holds on that date, and on every later date.
- The date must be in an open period, not before your books start and not after the end of the current month.
- Stock found of an item that has no cost yet needs a unit cost.
What Verasol books#
Stock taken off is booked at its cost. For example, one damaged 27-inch monitor written off at the Al Quoz warehouse on 30 September 2026:
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| 6910 Inventory Write-offs & Losses | 782.38 | |
| 1150 Inventory | 782.38 |
Stock added is booked at its unit cost. For example, one box of CAT6 cable found at the JAFZA Logistics Hub in the same count:
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| 1150 Inventory | 312.35 | |
| 4500 Inventory Gains | 312.35 |
Move goods to another warehouse#
- Click Stock transfer.
- Choose the Item. From warehouse then lists only the warehouses that hold the item, with what is available in each.
- Choose the From warehouse and the To warehouse.
- Enter the Quantity and the Date, and Notes if useful.
- Click Transfer stock.
1 From warehouse, 2 To warehouse, 3 Date, 4 Transfer stock.
The goods leave one warehouse and arrive in the other at the cost they had there on the transfer date. The list shows a Transfer out and a Transfer in row with the same reference. A transfer posts no journal entry: the goods stay in your Inventory account at the same value. Both warehouses must be active, and the goods must be available in the first warehouse on the transfer date and after it.
Reverse an adjustment or a transfer#
If you booked an adjustment or a transfer by mistake, click Reverse on its row and give a reason (Verasol suggests "Entered by mistake").
- An adjustment's stock and its journal entry are reversed, on the adjustment's own date, or on today's date when that period is closed.
- A transfer is reversed in both warehouses. The goods must still be in the warehouse they went to.
- The reversal shows as a new movement marked Reversal; the original stays in the list, marked Reversed. Nothing is deleted.
- A reversal cannot be reversed again: book a new adjustment or transfer instead.
Movements of documents have no Reverse button: cancel or correct the invoice, bill or other document, and its stock follows. Opening stock is corrected on the item (see Items).
