Payroll and HR in Verasol
The Payroll & HR page brings together your employees, attendance, leave, monthly payroll and HR compliance. Set up the working week, holidays, departments and designations first.
Everything about your people lives on one page: Payroll & HR in the main menu. HR records what happens during the month (attendance, overtime, leave) and payroll turns it into pay. When you process a month, Verasol books the salaries, the end-of-service provision and the leave salary provision in your accounts, so your books always show what you owe your staff.
Find your way around#
Open Payroll & HR in the main menu. If you do not see it, the module is switched off: it is turned on in Settings › Modules (Payroll & HR (WPS Compliant)), or your role does not include HR or payroll.
The cards at the top show the Total Employees, the Departments they work in, who is Present Today in today's attendance, and the gross pay of the latest processed month (Last Payroll (Gross)).
- 1 Gratuity provision report opens the report that compares the end-of-service gratuity your employees have earned with the provision in your books.
- 2 Add Employee opens the employee form. See Employees.
- 3 to 6 The tabs are grouped in four sections:
| Section | Tabs | What you do there |
|---|---|---|
| People | Employees, Departments, Designations | Your staff and how you organise them. |
| Time & leave | Attendance, Leave Management, Overtime Management, Working week & holidays | Days worked, leave, overtime and the company calendar. |
| Pay | Payroll Runs, Reimbursements, Loans, Settlements, Opening balances | Monthly payroll and WPS, expense claims, staff loans, end of service, and the balances you bring from your current software. |
| Compliance | Compliance | Documents about to expire, contracts ending, WPS readiness and air tickets. |
What each person sees depends on their role (Settings › Team & Permissions). The HR tabs need HR: employees, leave, attendance (view); the pay tabs need Payroll, loans, reimbursements (view). Changing records needs HR: manage employees, leave, attendance or Payroll, loans, reimbursements (run and pay).
Before your first payroll#
- Set the working week and load the public holidays (below).
- Add your departments and designations (below).
- Add your employees and give each one a salary structure. See Employees.
- Enter the employer ids of the WPS salary file in Settings › Tax & licence: the MOHRE establishment id and the WPS agent id (routing code) of the bank or exchange house that pays the salaries.
- If your staff worked for you before you started with Verasol, enter their payroll opening balances.
Set the working week#
Payroll counts the days that are not a weekly rest day and not a public holiday as working days. Work on a rest day is paid as overtime at the rest-day rate.
- Open Time & leave › Working week & holidays.
- Under 1 Weekly rest days, click the days your company does not work, or pick one of the common weeks: Saturday and Sunday off, Friday and Saturday off, Sunday only or Friday only.
- Click 2 Save working week.
Choose at least one rest day and at most three: the screen explains that UAE Labour Law gives every employee at least one paid rest day a week. A company without a saved working week has Saturday and Sunday off.
Add the public holidays#
A public holiday is not a working day for payroll, and work on it is holiday overtime.
- 3 Load UAE public holidays for 2026 adds the UAE's official private-sector holidays of the year shown (the button appears for the years Verasol has the official list).
- 4 Add holiday adds one of your own: a Holiday name, the First day, a Last day (optional) for a holiday of several days, and the Kind of holiday (UAE public holiday, Emirate holiday or Company holiday). Every kind counts the same for payroll.
Islamic holidays follow the moon sighting. Until the government announces the date, Verasol marks the expected date Date to be confirmed: check it when the date is announced and change it with the pencil if needed. A holiday that falls on a weekly rest day shows Falls on a rest day, and one in a month already processed shows Payroll processed.
The Working days per month, 2026 grid at the bottom shows the working days payroll will use for each month. The note under it says how leave is counted: annual, sick and bereavement leave in calendar days, so the working week and holidays do not change those balances; parental leave, study leave and compensatory days off in working days, so the working week and holidays decide how many days they use. See Leave.
Add departments and designations#
Departments (Finance & Admin, Technical Services) and designations (job titles such as Accountant or Systems Engineer) are chosen on each employee.
- Open People › Departments and click Add Department.
- Enter the Department Name and, if you like, a Description. Leave Active ticked.
- Click Save Department.
Designations work the same way under People › Designations with Add Designation. Verasol numbers them for you (DEPT-001, DESIG-001). An inactive department or designation no longer appears in the employee form.
Keep an eye on compliance#
The Compliance tab lists what needs action before it becomes a problem.
- Documents expiring within the period you choose (30, 60 or 90 days): residence visas, Emirates IDs, passports, labour cards, work permits and health insurance. Filter them by 1 Document and change the period with 2 Show expiries within.
- Contracts ending: fixed-term contracts that end soon, or have ended for employees still on the payroll.
- WPS readiness: the employees the bank would reject in the WPS salary file, and what is missing (IBAN, labour card number, bank routing code or salary structure).
- Air tickets due: employees entitled to an air ticket who have not had one this year.
Update on a row opens the employee's form at the right section, so you can enter the new expiry date or the missing detail.
