E-invoicing

Get ready for UAE e-invoicing. Verasol makes and checks an e-invoice for every tax invoice and credit note to a business, and shows what your data still misses.

UAE e-invoicing makes structured e-invoices mandatory for sales between businesses and to government. They are exchanged over the Peppol network through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to your customer and reports them to the FTA. Verasol makes and checks every e-invoice itself, in the UAE format (Peppol PINT AE). Sending them is done through your service provider, once one is connected.

The E-invoicing page under VAT is where you switch e-invoicing on, see how ready your company is, and follow every e-invoice. You can open it with the permission Tax: VAT and corporate tax (view) or Sales: invoices, quotes, customers (create/edit/send); changing the settings needs Tax: prepare and file returns, record tax payments.

Switch e-invoicing on#

Open VAT › E-invoicing in the main menu. The Status card shows the current mode, your Service provider, what the e-invoices are Checked against (the official UAE e-invoicing rules), and Your Peppol address, which Verasol takes from your TRN.

The status and settings of e-invoicing
  1. Under Mode 1, choose:
    • Off: nothing is made; your invoices work as before.
    • Preparing: every tax invoice and credit note to a business issued from the start date gets its e-invoice, checked against the official UAE rules and kept ready. Nothing is sent.
    • Live: every e-invoice is checked and sent through your service provider. It is available once a service provider is connected.
  2. Enter the Start date 2: tax invoices and credit notes issued from this date get their e-invoice.
  3. Choose your Revenue band 3. It sets your deadlines in Your deadline.
  4. Under Company details for e-invoicing, choose your Legal registration type and enter the Trade licence issuing authority 4, which every e-invoice needs when you are registered with a trade licence. Your TRN and trade licence number are kept in the company settings: Change in Settings takes you there.
  5. Click Save.

Your deadline#

Your deadline shows the dates of the official UAE timeline for your band: Appoint a service provider by and E-invoicing mandatory from. Until you choose a band, it lists them all:

BandAppoint a service provider byE-invoicing mandatory from

Revenue below AED 50 million31 March 20271 July 2027

Check your readiness#

Readiness lists what your company, your business customers and your items still need for e-invoices that meet the UAE rules. The badge at the top counts the things to fix.

Readiness: your company, your business customers and your items
  • 1 Readiness with the number of things to fix.
  • Company: your TRN, legal name, street address, city, emirate, trade licence number and the authority that issued it, and (recommended) a bank account with IBAN for the payment details. 2 Fix takes you to the place where each one is entered.
  • 3 Customers: business customers that miss details an e-invoice needs, such as their TRN, street address, emirate, or trade licence (or Emirates ID) number.
  • 4 Items: goods need their HS code and services their service code (Service code (SAC) on the item).

Click a name to open the customer or item and complete it.

Which documents get an e-invoice#

While e-invoicing is Preparing or Live, every tax invoice, export invoice and credit note to a business issued from the start date gets its e-invoice the moment it is issued, whoever issued it: you on the invoice screen, Vera, an import or a converted quote. Sales to consumers are outside the UAE e-invoicing rules and get none. Drafts get none either.

Documents you issued after the start date but before you switched e-invoicing on can be added: click Make e-invoices for documents issued since the start date (the button shows the date) under E-invoices. Verasol makes at most 200 at a time and tells you how many are ready and how many need fixing.

Follow your e-invoices#

The list under E-invoices shows each document with its type, the receiver's Peppol address, the status and when it was checked. Filter it with All, Needs fixing, Ready, Sent and Received (and Rejected when your service provider refused any).

The e-invoices, with the problems of one of them opened
  • 1 Make the e-invoices of documents issued since the start date that have none yet.
  • 2 Needs fixing: e-invoices that do not pass the UAE rules yet.
  • 3 Click a row to see What needs fixing: each problem in plain words, with the official rule under it.
  • 4 XML downloads the e-invoice file itself.
  • 5 Check again makes and checks the e-invoice again after you completed the customer, item or company details. Check again the ones that need fixing does this for all of them at once.

An e-invoice moves through these statuses:

StatusMeaning
Needs fixingIt does not pass the UAE rules yet. Complete the details named under What needs fixing, then check it again.
ReadyIt passes the rules and waits for your service provider.
Submitted, Delivered, ReportedOnce a service provider is connected: sent, delivered to your customer, reported to the FTA.
Rejected, FailedThe service provider refused it, or it could not be sent.

The e-invoice on an invoice#

An issued invoice or credit note shows its own E-invoice panel, below the totals. It shows the status, the buyer's Peppol address, when it was checked and anything To fix before it can be sent.

The E-invoice panel on an issued invoice
  • 1 E-invoice, with the status on the right.
  • 2 Download XML downloads the e-invoice file.
  • 3 Check again after you completed the missing details.
  • 4 E-invoice details opens the details some invoices need. Under Transaction type, tick only what applies (most invoices have none): Free trade zone (with the Beneficiary TRN), Deemed supply, Profit margin scheme, Summary invoice, Continuous supply, Disclosed agent billing (with the Principal's TRN), E-commerce or Exports, which is set automatically for export invoices. A credit note also asks for the Reason for the e-invoice. Click Save details.

When e-invoicing is off, the panel only says so, with a link to the E-invoicing settings.

A supplier's e-invoice#

When a supplier sends you a UAE e-invoice as an XML file, Verasol can read it into a new bill. On Invoices › Purchase Invoices, click Read an e-invoice and choose the E-invoice file (XML). Verasol shows the supplier, the lines and the totals, and whether the e-invoice passes the UAE checks. Create bill from it fills a new bill with it; check the lines and accounts, then save. See Purchase invoices (bills).
