Optional modules
Switch on the parts of Verasol your company uses, such as inventory, payroll and HR, fixed assets and international business, and see what each module adds.
Verasol has a core that every company uses: sales and purchases, banking, VAT, corporate tax, the accounts and the reports. Four areas are optional modules. A module you switch on shows its menu items and screens; a module you switch off is hidden from the menu, and the records it holds stay in your books.
Switch a module on or off#
- Open Settings › Modules.
- Click the switch next to the module.
1 Modules in the Company group of Settings. 2 The switch of a module. 3 On shows that a module is switched on; a module that is switched off shows Off.
The change applies at once: the module's pages appear in, or disappear from, the main menu. Everyone in the company can see which modules are on. Only the company owner switches them; in a client company of an accountancy firm, the firm's admins, who are owners of every client. Others see a note that says so.
The modules#
| Module | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Inventory Management | The Inventory menu with Items, Warehouses and Stock Movements. With the module on, Verasol keeps stock: goods you buy come into stock, and goods you sell or deliver go out of stock at their cost. See Items. |
| Payroll & HR (WPS Compliant) | Payroll & HR: employees, attendance, leave, payroll runs with the WPS salary file, loans, expense claims and end-of-service. See Payroll and HR. |
| Fixed Assets | Fixed Assets: the asset register, depreciation and disposals. See Fixed asset register. |
| International Business | The International menu: related parties, group companies, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing and economic substance. See International business. |
A new company starts with all four modules switched on. Switch off what the company does not need, to keep the menu short.
Always included#
Under Always included, Bank Reconciliation is marked Always Enabled: bank and cash accounts, statement import and bank reconciliation are part of every company's books and can't be switched off.
1 Always Enabled. 2 The note at the end of the page sums up when a module can't be switched off.
When a module cannot be switched off#
Switching a module off never deletes anything, and switching it on again shows everything as it was. But Verasol refuses to switch a module off while the books still depend on it. The reason appears under the module, with what to settle first, and nothing is changed.
| Module | Verasol refuses while |
|---|---|
| Inventory Management | The company still holds stock, or sales that issued stock still stand (cancelling or changing one would bring its goods back). Bring the stock to zero first: sell it, or write it off with stock adjustments. |
| Payroll & HR (WPS Compliant) | Something in payroll is still open, for example an expense claim waiting or approved and not paid, a payroll run processed but not paid, pension contributions or other deductions withheld and not paid on, end-of-service or leave salary provisions in the books, an end-of-service settlement not paid, or an employee loan still owed. |
| Fixed Assets | Assets in the register still have a book value. Dispose of them first: sell, scrap or write them off. |
