Talk to Vera
Have a voice call with Vera in the browser, let her call your phone, or call her from a registered number. On any call she reads the documents you add while you talk, and in the browser she can also open screens.
You can talk to Vera as you would talk to a colleague: in a voice call in the browser, or on the phone. It is the same Vera as in the chat, with the same memory and the same rules. In the browser she can also open screens and show you around while you talk. On the phone she answers in words. On both, you can give her a document while you talk.
Vera understands and answers in English and in Arabic.
Call Vera in the browser#
- At the top of the main menu, click Talk to Vera to open the section.
- Click the green Talk to Vera button.
- The first time, your browser asks whether Verasol may use the microphone. Allow it.
- Talk. Vera listens and answers out loud.
- 1 Talk to Vera starts the call in the browser.
- 2 Or let Vera call your phone: see below.
- 3 On the AI Assistant page, the headset button next to the message box starts the same call.
During the call, the section shows whether Vera is listening or speaking, how long the call has lasted, and the last lines of what you both said. You can:
- Mute your microphone (and Unmute it again).
- End call. Afterwards, Call again starts a new one.
- Set the Background filter: Off, Light, Normal, Strong or Max. Turn it up when people or a TV are around you; turn it down if Vera misses your words.
The call goes on while you move through Verasol. When the main menu is not on screen, for example in a narrow window, the call shows in a small window that you can drag out of the way.
What was said on a call is kept as a conversation. You find it under Recent Conversations on the AI Assistant page, as "Call with Vera" for a call in the browser or "Phone call with Vera" for a phone call, with the date and time.
What Vera can do on a browser call#
On a browser call she does what she does in the chat: she answers from your books, prepares drafts and proposals for your approval, and remembers what you ask her to remember. Because she can see the screen you are on, she can also:
- open a screen: "Show me the draft bills", "Open Saffron Coast Pharmacy's invoice";
- show you how something is done, as a guided tour: "Walk me through recording a payment";
- explain what you are looking at: "What does this figure mean?".
She tells you in one sentence what she opened. She does not read menus and steps out loud: you see them on the screen.
Give Vera a document on a call#
When Vera needs a document, for example an invoice or receipt to record, a bank statement or an Excel sheet, you can give it to her without ending the call. When she asks you for one, the call shows what she asks for above Add a document, for example "Vera asks for: Falcon Office Supplies invoice", and the button stands out.
- In the call, click Add a document, or drop the file onto the call.
- Choose the file. You can add the same files as with Attach file in the chat: PDFs, photos and scans (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF), Excel workbooks, CSV and text files.
- Under the button the file shows Vera has it once it has reached her. Vera reads it straight away and tells you what it is, for example "It's an invoice from Falcon Office Supplies for AED 661.50, dated 3 October. Shall I record it as a bill?". For a sheet she says how many rows and columns it has. If she has already been told what to do with it, she starts on that. Once she has read it, it shows Read by Vera.
- Say what you want, for example "Record this invoice as a bill, paid in cash" or "What is the total of the deposits on this statement?".
What Vera tells you about the document when it arrives comes only from the document itself: what it is, who it is from and to, its number, date and total. Anything she cannot find in it, she leaves out. If reading it takes longer than a few seconds, she only says she has it. When she works on it, she reads the whole document the same way as a file attached in the chat. What she prepares from it, such as a draft bill, waits for your approval as usual. In the call's conversation under Recent Conversations, a line shows which files you added.
Let Vera call your phone#
- Open the Talk to Vera section at the top of the main menu.
- Under Or let Vera call your phone, type your phone number with its country code, for example +971 50 123 4567.
- Click the phone button next to it. Vera calls you.
Anyone whose role includes the AI Assistant permission can have Vera call their own number, once it is registered for this company (see below). Only the company owner can have her call a number that is not yet theirs. A new number is then registered to the person who asked for the call.
Call Vera from your phone#
The phone numbers that may call Vera are registered in Settings › Phone numbers for Vera. The page is called Authorized Phone Numbers and lists your own numbers. At the top, the Vera's phone number card shows the number to call, and the Calling Vera box at the bottom reminds you that a call works with your role's permissions.
- Click Add Phone Number.
- Fill in the Name: a label for the number, for example "Layla's mobile".
- Fill in the Phone Number with its country code, for example +971501234567.
- Tick the Companies this number may use.
- Leave Active (can make calls) ticked.
- Click Add.
1 Name, 2 Phone Number, 3 Companies, 4 Active (can make calls).
Call Vera's number from a registered, active number. The call acts as you: Vera works with your role and your permissions in the companies you ticked. If you ticked more than one, she starts in the first company the number was registered for, and you can ask her to switch to another one during the call.
Each row of the list has three buttons: the pause button (Deactivate, or Activate again), the pencil (Edit) and the bin (Delete).
Registering a number, or adding companies to it, needs the owner of every company involved (in a client company of an accountancy firm, the firm's admins). Removing or deactivating your own number is always possible.
What Vera can do on the phone#
On the phone there is no screen, so Vera works in words. She answers from your books, prepares drafts and proposals for your approval and remembers what you ask her to. When you ask where something is in Verasol, she tells you the menu and the screen in a few words.
Give Vera a document during a phone call#
While you are on the phone with Vera, you can give her a document in Verasol, on your computer or on your phone.
- Open Verasol while the call goes on. At the top of the main menu, Talk to Vera shows On a phone call with Vera, how long the call has lasted and the company it is about. When the main menu is not on screen, for example on a phone, a small window at the top of the page shows the same.
- Click Add a document, or drop the file onto it, and choose the file. You can add the same files as in a call in the browser.
- The file shows Vera has it, and Vera tells you on the phone what it is, as described above. Once she has read it, it shows Read by Vera.
When Vera needs a document on the phone, she asks you to open Verasol and add it under Talk to Vera, or to read out what she needs. If Verasol is open, it shows what she asks for above Add a document, and the button stands out.
Only you see your phone call in Verasol, and only while it lasts. A document you add there goes to that call, for the company Vera is working on in the call. When the call has ended, add the file in the chat with Attach file instead.
Tell us how Vera did#
After a call in the browser that lasted at least 20 seconds, the Talk to Vera section asks How was your call with Vera? right under the ended call. After a phone call with Vera, Verasol asks the next time you are in it within 24 hours, once: "How was your phone call with Vera at 14:02?", with the time the call began.
Choose 1 to 5 stars, tick what applies (after a call there is also Hard to hear / interrupted), add a comment if you like and click Send. Not now and Don't ask for 7 days work as in the chat: see Chat with Vera.
Her voice#
Choose the voice Vera uses on calls in Settings › Vera's instructions, under Vera's voice on calls. It applies from your next call, in the app and by phone. See Instructions, memory and voice.
