For Verasol 2.12·6 min read

All of Verasol's financial reports sit on one page, Business Reports. Each report is read straight from your books: the journal entries that are posted, in AED. A draft invoice, a bill waiting for approval or a journal that is not posted yet is not in any report. So the figures you see are always the figures in your ledger, and they change the moment a document is issued, approved or reversed.

Open a report#

Open Reports in the main menu (it is also in the top bar). Each report is a tab: click its name to open it. The page opens on the Balance Sheet Report.

  • 1 The tabs: one per report.
  • 2 The date or the period of the report.
  • 3 The circular arrow reloads the report.
  • 4 The printer prints it.
  • 5 Export downloads it as a file.

You need the permission Reports and dashboard (view) to open this page. The Stock summary tab also needs Inventory (view).

Choose the date or the period#

Each report asks for the dates it needs, at the top right of the report:

  • A report at a date (Balance Sheet Report, Trial Balance Report, Customer Dues Report, Vendor Dues Report, Inventory Valuation) has an As of date. It opens on today.
  • A report over a period has From and To. The Profit & Loss Report and the Cash Flow Report open on your financial year so far, from its first day to today. The General Ledger Report and the bank and cash books open on the last twelve months, the Sales Report by Customer and the Expense Report by Category on the current month and the eleven months before it, and Statements on the current month and the three months before it, each up to today. The VAT Summary Report opens on the current calendar year.
  • The Daily Transactions Report shows one Date, the Corporate Tax tab one financial year, and the Stock summary a Period such as This month or Last month.

When you change a date, the report reloads by itself. Click the circular arrow to reload it after you post something new.

Filter a report#

Some reports can be narrowed down:

  • Profit & Loss Report and Trial Balance Report: when your company uses reporting tags (a branch, a cost centre, a project), Tags limits the report to the lines with the tags you tick. In the profit and loss, Split by tag shows one column per value of a tag instead. See Dimensions and custom fields.
  • General Ledger Report: one account, or All Accounts.
  • Statements: the customer or vendor.
  • Sales Report by Customer, Expense Report by Category and Inventory Valuation: one customer, one category or one warehouse.

Comparing periods#

A report shows one period at a time. To compare two periods, open the report for each one, or export both and put them side by side in Excel. Split by tag compares branches or cost centres within one period, and the Corporate Tax tab has a Historical Comparison of your financial years.

The printer button prints the report alone, without the menus and buttons, with your company name and the period at the top.

Export downloads the report as a file. It is on the Balance Sheet Report, Profit & Loss Report, Trial Balance Report, Customer Dues Report, Vendor Dues Report and VAT Summary Report. The Corporate Tax tab has its own PDF and Excel buttons, and Gratuity provision has Print and Excel.

The Export menu of the balance sheet: Excel or PDF
  1. Set the date or period you want.
  2. Click Export.
  3. Choose 1 Excel (.xlsx) or 2 PDF. The file has the same dates as the report on the screen, and the company name and period in its name.

Open the entries behind a figure#

Several reports let you go one level down:

  • In the General Ledger Report, click an account to see its postings, then click a journal number to open the Journal Entry Details panel with all the lines of that entry. See General ledger, day book, bank and cash books.
  • In the Customer Dues Report and Vendor Dues Report, click a customer or vendor to list the documents that make up the balance.
  • In the Sales Report by Customer, click a customer to list the invoices and credit notes of the period. Click an invoice number to open the invoice.
  • In the Expense Report by Category, click a category to list its postings. Where a posting comes from a purchase bill, the reference opens the bill.
  • In the Stock summary, the item name opens the item.
Sales Report by Customer: a customer opened to show its invoices

1 Click the customer to open its invoices. 2 Click an invoice number to open the invoice.

Messages on a report#

Some reports check themselves against the books and tell you when something is off:

  • Balanced (or Unbalanced) under the trial balance and the balance sheet.
  • A line with the control account and Diff under the customer and vendor dues, and Closing balance = GL balance above each bank account in the bank and cash books.
  • A warning when an amount was entered somewhere but is not in the books, for example an opening balance on a bank account that was never posted. Such amounts are never added to a report: fix the cause, for example with opening balances.

Export FAF at the top right creates the FTA Audit File. See FTA Audit File.
