Warehouses
Set up the places where you keep goods, choose the primary warehouse and see what each warehouse holds and what it is worth.
A warehouse is a place where you keep goods: a store, a showroom, a logistics hub in a free zone. Verasol keeps the stock of every item, and its cost, per warehouse. So you always see what each place holds and what it is worth, and moving goods from one warehouse to another never changes their value in your books.
Your warehouses#
Open Inventory › Warehouses. Each warehouse has a card with its code, city and emirate, contact person and phone, the number of items it holds stock of (Total Items) and the value of that stock at cost (Stock Value).
- 1 New Warehouse adds a warehouse.
- 2 Primary marks the primary warehouse. Verasol takes goods from it when a line of a sales invoice or a delivery note names no warehouse, and suggests it for an item's opening stock.
- 3 The ⋮ menu of a warehouse has Edit, Stock in this warehouse, View Stock Movements, Set as Primary (on the other warehouses) and Delete.
- 4 Stock in this warehouse shows what the warehouse holds. See below.
Add a warehouse#
- Click New Warehouse.
- Enter the Warehouse Name. Leave the Warehouse Code empty and Verasol gives the warehouse a code.
- Enter the Address, the City and the Emirate. The P.O. Box is optional.
- If you like, add a Contact Person, Contact Phone and Contact Email.
- Switch on This is the primary warehouse to make it the primary warehouse. The warehouse that was primary until now stops being primary.
- Leave Active switched on.
- Click Save Warehouse.
1 Warehouse Name, 2 Emirate, 3 This is the primary warehouse, 4 Save Warehouse.
To change a warehouse later, choose Edit in its ⋮ menu: the same form opens.
See what a warehouse holds#
Click Stock in this warehouse on the warehouse's card. A side panel lists every item the warehouse holds, with its quantity, its value at cost and its average cost in this warehouse.
- 1 Items in stock is the number of items with stock in this warehouse.
- 2 Stock value is what that stock cost.
- 3 View Stock Movements opens Stock movements, filtered to this warehouse.
An item marked To reorder has reached its reorder level. Reorder levels are set per item for the whole company: Verasol compares the item's stock in all warehouses together with its Reorder Level, whatever this warehouse holds. Click an item to open its item page.
Move goods between warehouses#
Use a stock transfer. The goods leave one warehouse and arrive in the other at the cost they had, on the date you choose. A transfer posts no journal entry: the goods stay in your Inventory account at the same value.
Change the primary warehouse or delete a warehouse#
- Set as Primary in a warehouse's ⋮ menu makes it the primary warehouse, after you confirm.
- To stop using a warehouse but keep it, choose Edit and switch off Active. The warehouse is marked Inactive, can't receive transfers and keeps its history, and new invoices and bills no longer offer it. The primary warehouse must stay active: make another warehouse primary first.
- Delete removes a warehouse you no longer use, for good. Verasol refuses while the warehouse still holds stock: transfer the goods or adjust the stock to zero first. It also refuses while invoices, delivery notes or debit notes that took goods out of the warehouse still stand, because cancelling one would bring the goods back into it.
- The primary warehouse cannot be deleted while you have other active warehouses. Make another one primary first.
