FTA Audit File (FAF)
Download the FTA Audit File for any period, straight from your posted books, and see beforehand what it will contain.
The FTA Audit File (FAF) is the standard extract of your accounting records that the Federal Tax Authority may ask for during a VAT audit. Verasol prepares it from your posted books for any period you choose: every sale and purchase that carries VAT, and every general ledger line of the period. Because it comes from the same entries as your VAT return, the file agrees with the return and with the ledger.

Verasol prepares the file and downloads it to your computer. For a long period this can take a little while.
The counts under What the file will contain follow the dates as you change them, so you can check the period before you download.

What is in the file#
The download is one ZIP file with seven spreadsheets in CSV format, which open in Excel:
| File | What it lists |
|---|---|
| 1 Company info | Your company details and the period. |
| 2 Customers | Your customers, with their TRN. |
| 3 Vendors | Your suppliers, with their TRN. |
| 4 Sales invoices | Sales invoices and credit notes of the period, line by line. |
| 5 Purchase bills | Bills, imports and reverse-charge purchases, line by line, with the VAT you accounted for yourself, and the other purchases with recoverable VAT, such as expense claims, bank charges and fixed assets. |
| 6 General ledger | Every posted line of the period. |
| 7 VAT return summary | The VAT 201 boxes of the period and their agreement with the ledger. |
On the sales and purchase lines you find the customer's or supplier's TRN, the place of supply, the VAT rate, the amounts in AED as booked with the document's own currency next to them, the journal entry, and the VAT return box the line was reported in. That makes the file the easiest way to see which documents are behind a figure on your return.
Only posted entries are included; drafts are not. Opening balances carried over from your previous software are not sales or purchases of the period, so they are not in the sales and purchase lists.
You need the permission Reports and dashboard (view) to prepare the audit file.
